MetPhoMod is a three-dimensional, eulerian, prognostic model for the calculation of mesoscale meteorology and atmospheric chemistry. It includes meteorological modules

• atmospheric fluid dynamics: three dimensional wind fields, non-hydrostatic or hydrostatic pressure fields, air density, temperature and humidity
• atmospheric turbulence
• solar radiation
• infrared radiation balance
• soil/vegetation atmospheric transfer
• clouds, rain and snow

and chemical modules for

• gas phase chemistry (including a chemical reaction interpreter)
• emissions (surface and elevated point sources)
• deposition

The interactions of meteorological and chemical processes are considered in a straightforward way. MetPhoMod furthermore supports:

• one-way nesting
• parallel computing

Most of these modules can be switched on and off by the user. Special care was undertaken to assure that the model can be used by persons who were not involved in the development process. This makes MetPhoMod an ideal tool for an atmospheric expert who is looking for a ready to use tool to do his scientific applications.

MetPhoMod uses a cartesian grid with regular and underground grid points. This makes it an especially suitable tool for simulation in very complex terrain.

MetPhoMod is free software and can be downloaded directly from this site. The user, however, has to stick to the conditions of the free software license.
