Montsouris Ozone Project

This project on the re-analysis and the re-evaluation of the historical 34-year ozone record at Montsouris (1876-1910) near Paris was initiated and set up by Professor Trevor D. Davies, Dean, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, Norwich, U.K. It is a collaborative project with France and Germany; Dr Evi Schuepbach has worked in the project since the beginning, initially as a Research Associate during her Ph.D. at the University of East Anglia.

Since current opinion on surface ozone trends is based on historical surface ozone records, every effort needs to be undertaken to confirm the reliability of the Montsouris ozone record. The historical ozone record at Montsouris contains the first quantitative ozone data measured around the turn of the century. A final report on the project is in preparation.
